A gentle and deep workout on our body's structures aiming at releasing the tensions and regain flexibility, alignment, fluidity, coordination, balance.

19.50 - 20.50 Oriental dance and rhythm

La danse orientale abordée par le biais des rythmes traditionnels et des mouvements fondamentaux, pour retrouver de l'authenticité et du lien avec les cultures d'origine.

Une base en danse orientale ou du moins une facilité de mouvement est conseillée.

Chaque atelier peut être suivi isolément.

Daqqat workshop invites you to experience the Oriental typical connection between the body, the rhythm and the ground. Accompanied by a percussionist. Through various sequences and exercises, we learn to make the movements more lively, genuine and varied. Workshops can be dedicated to zills too.

Zills, eurhythmics and Oriental rhythms
Fun and lively method for understanding the structures of rhythm and developing skills on the zills. Please have preferably some basic knowledge of oriental dance and sagattes already.

What are zills ?

Zills ("sagât" in Arabic) are small metal cymbals held in the palm of one's hand. They are percussion instruments used in traditional music-making and they give a typically Eastern flavour when played. Gypsy dancers (ghawazees) and Eastern dancers use them too with more basic rhythms to accompany their movements.

The workshops

Workshops and masterclasses of Oriental dance allow particular subjects to be explored in depth. They allow years of research and experience to be delivered in a clear and accurate manner.

Workshops and masterclasses aim to deepen a theme or a movement in particular. They include a preparation of the body, a technical and eurythmic workout and a creative part. They contribute towards improving the level of all participants, be they beginners or more advanced.

Introduction to oriental dance, Fundamental movements, Shimmy shakedown, Undulations, Figure eight and circle movements, Arabesques and leg movements, Veil, Sword, Floor dance

Traditional dances themes

Egyptian Baladi, cane dance, Saidi and Assaya, Introduction to Moroccan Chaabi, Introduction to Turkish Gypsy dance (Roman Havası)
